This semester we will deepen our relationship with Jesus by encountering Him as He lives in the Psalms.  Throughout history, the church has pondered, preached, prayed and praised Jesus through the Psalms.  For your own study, here are a few examples:

Jesus used the Psalms to stun and silence His enemies regarding the glorious truths of the resurrection and His sovereign power to defeat every foe (Lk. 20:27-47).

Likewise, when  the resurrected Jesus opened the disciples eyes to the true meaning of Scripture,  explaining to them the things concerning Himself, he said, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” (Lk 20:44)

After His ascension,  Peter shepherded the early church through Judas’ betrayal and his replacement, by turning to the Psalms for spiritual understanding and guidance (Acts 1:20).

As the Holy Spirit was poured out at Pentecost, the sermon preached to explain the resurrected life of Jesus filling believers was an exegesis of two Psalms (Acts 2:25-35).

Repeatedly, throughout Scripture we are encouraged to speak and sing the Psalms to each other (Ps 95:2; I Cor.14:26; Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16.

During our times together at Fully Alive at Five, we seek to create an environment of freedom in worship and openness to the Holy Spirit, as we anchor our time together in teaching the Word of God. We will sing, say, pray, hear and dance the Psalms!  Our aim is Word-soaked meditation and worship-saturated intercession in order “to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge that (we) may be filled with the fullness of God.” (Eph. 3:19).

If you are searching for “more than a Bible study,” please join us every other Tuesday morning at 5:00am.

Here’s a testimony about Fully Alive at Five from wife and mother Ashley Baker:

I’m not a morning person. Most mornings I have a hard time rolling out of bed, but there is one thing I will always get up for. It’s called Fully Alive at Five.  Fully Alive at Five is a prayer meeting  which meets on every other Tuesday during the fall and spring – 5a.m. – 7 a.m.

I come for one reason.

I want to meet with God. And week after week, God meets with me. As Kathy teaches and exhorts us, I often times find myself either laughing, crying, or rejoicing as I am encouraged and instructed each week. As Abby sings and ministers through music, we are taken into the throne room to worship a true and living God. As Devon leads us in dance, I am encouraged to worship a mighty God with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength. As many other women come and humbly offer their petitions and cries before the Lord, my faith is strengthened.

There is something so special about this early hour. I haven’t been up long enough to be distracted by daily happenings. I’m free to worship God. And He shows up and ministers in a special way each week as I come.

I hope you will join us!
